Let’s talk about how to relieve sharp spots on aligners and retainers today.

We are going to talk about putting wax on rough spots with your aligners or retainers. One of the things that often goes a little bit underrated. That is common even though you don’t have braces.

Let’s say you’re straightening your teeth with Invisalign, or smile direct Club candid 3m clarity liners, or any other kind of aligners from your orthodontists. You still can get rough spots. You can actually get these little spots dig into your tongue or have spots in the front rub on your lips. Sometimes these do have a little sharp spots up here along the edges.

So one thing that you can do to help with that discomfort is get dental wax. First thing to do is break off a little piece. Let’s say that you have your aligner in your mouth already. And then up here on the roof of your mouth, it’s rubbing onto your tongue, or down there on the bottom rubbing on your tongue. Take this piece of wax and get it warm. You can make it into a ball if you want, just depending on where it’s rubbing. And you can take that piece of wax and push it up underneath where the undercut is, where that aligner is rubbing. You’ve got wax right there that can help tremendously. Doing that for a couple of days and you’d be amazed at how well you’ll respond and then you can continue to wear your aligners like normal.

One tip is to make sure that your mouth and your aligner is dry. Then push wax up in there. It can help tremendously with discomfort with the liners.

I hope this blog helps. Thanks!
