Today let’s talk about dental wax. I will show you how to put wax on. I found a little bit of easier way to put wax and because I thought it would be helpful for anyone who maybe has trouble putting wax on or hasn’t gotten their braces on yet and is wondering if it’s hard, easy, or how to do in general.

I’m going to show you how to put it on your regular brackets on the back wires. I’ve got two different wax. One from my orthodontist and another one from Meyarn, which is mint flavored. Some people might not like that especially if you eat with it on or you’re really sensitive to the taste. It really hasn’t bothered me because the taste isn’t too strong. I leave it in my car all the time and it’s never melted. Definitely, Meyarn’s wax is a lot better.

  1. Cut the wax with your nail.

The wax comes with a little knife to help, which is easy and hygienic. Don’t cut it too much because you don’t want it to look crazy. You want it to be as discreet as possible.

2. Flatten the wax out.

Press it on to where you want it to be and then use your top finger to press it over the bracket. It is a little bit easier if you use both hands because when you first press it down, the top of the wax may come off.

3. Roll it to a ball

Grab roughly around the same amount and roll it into a ball. Put it in your mouth and use your hand to feel where the wire is. Once you feel the wire, you can get the ball and slide it onto the tip of the wire. If you want, you can still press it on a little bit more to make sure it’s on there. Actually, you can feel it if it’s on there.

Another thing I have to say about that is to be very careful whenever you’re doing it. Because when I first got my braces, I tried to do that and I brought my finger out way too fast. I ended up stabbing my finger with the wire. It hurts so bad. Please try it be very careful.

I don’t know how many people need this. Maybe someone who doesn’t have braces yet and is just curious about it. That’s pretty normal. I had problems trying to put it on. I would try to make it in a ball and stick it on. It would not stick and that’s when I figured out how to flatten it out and press it on. It was so much easier. That’s why I wanted to make this post for you. Hope it will be helpful for you!
